Rana Daggubati, grandson of Telugu film veteran Dr. D. Ramanaidu, and producer D. Suresh Babu’s son is making his debut as the hero in a political film that is all set to launch in October of this year. Before embarking on his acting career, Rana was a successful Digital Post entrepreneur, who became well known in the Telugu film industry as the brain behind the latest film technology and is accredited with having transformed the evolution of the postproduction landscape. He brought the Digital Intermediate (DI) technology and other state-of-art postproduction practices to the South Indian film industry through his company, Spirit Media.
Rana graduated from Hyderabad Public School in 2002. Straight out of school, he spent a couple of years pursuing photography, cinematography and visual effects. At the age of 19, Rana returned to Hyderabad to join the family business at Ramanaidu Studios and Suresh Productions, an integrated production powerhouse. Having inherited a passion for cinema from his family, Rana has always had his finger on the pulse of the film industry. At 21, his very first film as producer won the National award for “A Belly full of Dreams”.
He continues to strive for cinematic excellence and is consistently on the lookout for opportunities to enhance the new media business. Given his drive for photography and cinematography coupled with his tremendous foresight, he identified an emerging need for digital postproduction services in the industry. In early 2005, Rana started Spirit Media in Hyderabad.
