Piracy is not only ethically wrong on part of the ordinary citizen but has unwanted consequences like encouraging criminal elements and also hurting the creative people involved in making movies to come with ambitious and innovative movies.

This is a good initiative by telugu movie industry where all the production companies and industry members are fighting together for a honest cause. But before the telugu film industry tries to aggressively fight piracy, the following concerns must be pondered over -

1. Many telugu film scripts, portions of the script, jokes and songs are either direct ripoffs from external films or ‘improvised’\'remix’ versions of the original. This ugly widespread practice of plagiarism in tollywood is as serious a crime as piracy. If the industry itself indulges in unethical and criminal activity (some cases atleast as IP laws are not so strict regarding creative arts in India), how can tollywood take a morally higher ground over common people?

2. If one notices the road side carts selling movie cds, most of the cds are actually of movies past the 50 day mark and even popular movies of the recent past which are not running theaters. Clearly there is a demand for cds of films not running in theaters and people will buy them if they are easily available and cheap. Isn’t there a failure on part of film industry in taking advantage of changes in technology and society? The roadside wallas sell sub-standard quality cds at about Rs 30-50. Why can’t the industry improve the distribution reach and sell cds at a more reasonable price which would result in a huge increase in revenue and a definite rise in profits?

I respect Shekar kammula’s movies and don’t believe that he indulges in plagiarism. I just wanted bring forward deeper aspects of the problem instead of simply blaming the people indulging in piracy. They just fulfill a demand which the industry is not able to address because of its own defects and differences.

Hai rana,
Leader is a good movie,it reflected the feelings of normal and common man.
every problem will have a good solution as shown by leader for corruption.
i think there is a gap formed between audience and movies with increasing price of movie tickets and it was occupied by piracy, and u believe it or not 50-60% of people are not coming to theatres if they don’t get a good response from others for any movie and they are trying to watch it at home and it made wide opportunity to piracy makers.there will be a best solution for this if the big heads of film industry try to fix it.
i think this is the reason why movies are not able to cross 100days (cant imagine 175 now a days).

hope this situation changes in near future.

hey rana, i have done some work on anti piracy. i even tried to approach suresh production for the leader release. i told them i can stop the movie from being available from the internet, but no body cared about it.
i have approached suresh productions, they say u will have to contact the distributor, and the distributor said to ask the producer. i got a positive response finally from the anti piracy cell. but only 2 days before the movie release. after that i was busy in my job and didn’t try to contact further, but my mind was working on it.

i have just shifted from vizag to hyd so that i can work out my ideas.
i left my job in vizag and came to hyd with the confidence in my project. if ur really into stopin piracy let the concerned person to contact me. i have cost effective plans from stoping the movie like,

making the theater screen undetectable for camera,

tracing a hidden camera recording movie inside a theater

to trace from which theater the movie is recorded by watching the pirated movie obtained.

preventing the movie from being available for download.( i know u will be thinking its impossible, but trust me its very much possible)

when u trace out from which theater the movie is been recorded, u dont have to legally procede in closing the theater, but u can send a warning from the producers councel( if not available will have to create one)stating a movie is recorded in Ur theater or using the print given to u, so if it repeats for 2 more times we will not give release movie to Ur theater until the 30th day after release. so the main reason for the piracy will be prevented.

u will be shocked by the way in which piracy will be prevented from internet.

I am Hyderabad right now preparing my presentation for anti piracy.

i need to know some details about the film industry so i can go further to start my anti piracy work.
