Let us address how music gets into the trap. There are different kinds of piracies. One is directly cheating the customers with a perfect copying of everything including the label, music track and even package. The second is something which the customer very well knows that it is a copy in the sense the original is merely copied on a CD and sold as copied version and at times in the name of providing a combination of hit songs from different films, this activity flourishes. There is yet another piracy process with reference to music where a person unauthorisely records the live event and sells them to public.

With growing internet access to many and file transfer processes the piracy is further booming without any control.

As we are more related to movies, let us address how this illegal aspect affects the film industry as we all know, the producers pour in crores of rupees when they produce a movie. And this virus called piracy has an access to the prints of the movie much before its official release. Net result, before the movie hits the theaters this movie is seen by many and it’s needless to say what could be the magnitude of losses one incurs due to this.

If at all we worry much about these producers what concerns is that, as per a survey by an international magazine it is about 80% of piracy originates from within, meaning, there is a black ship within the industry sitting, smiling probably very next to the producer or hidden somewhere as a low level employee.

The money earned through this illegal activity is effortless at the same time money involved is huge (running into hundreds of crores). So it lures all those who want to make quick bucks at the cost of others efforts. While there are many rules and regulations to curtail this, the strict ones are said to be from the neighbouring states where there are proposals to include such offenders under Gooda Act and treat them severely. So it is very important that Andhra Pradesh also started taking some stern actions against such offenders.

It’s truly appreciable that the film fraternity of Tollywood has come together to plead the AP Government to bring in stricter laws against piracy. Though the proposed token bandh by Tollywood has been called off due to assurances from government, it’s imperative that all should continue to stand together in pleading for justice and support to fight against this illegal business.

We also condemns piracy severely and stands by the side of each and every one who fight against this illegal activity (viz) piracy.
