Rana ‘Leader’ 100 days special press interview
On the eve of completion of 100 days run of ‘Leader’ on May 29th, RaNa Daggubati organized a press meet at Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad today.
Rana while speaking, “Leader will complete 100 days run on May 29th. Before the film’s release I was not aware whether to do such films but post release I was clear about doing such films. After watching the premiere show Rajamouli and Vinayak appreciated the film by saying that this film appears like a real film. After watching this film I understood my negative points. So I would be cautious by not repeating those mistakes in my future films.”
Speaking about his Bollywood film he said, “Right now I am doing a film titled ‘Dum Maro Dum’ co-starring Abhishek Bachchan and Pradeep Babbar. This movie is being directed by Rohan Sippy. I’m playing the role of a magician in Goa and Bipasha Basu is pairing with me. By doing a Bollywood flick I’ve learnt many new things.”
‘Dum Maro Dum’ is a film set in Goa which deals with drugs trafficking and I play the role of a musician. One thing I observed is they take a lot of time for pre-production. By the time I joined the team, they were already through 2-3 rehearsals of their scenes. We are recording the voice on the spot and there won’t be any dubbing. I had to work on my accent to make it sound more authentic. The major difference between ours and Hindi Cinema comes in the storytelling. Most of the technicians are professionally trained before they enter this field whereas here we learn it on the job. Not that it makes a huge difference, but there’s a clear difference between the approaches towards the cinema as a whole.
Speaking about his next film with Selva Raghavan he said, “My next film is a bilingual one that is going to be made in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously. It’s going to be made under my home banner Suresh Productions. Right now the pre-production works are at progress. The basic plot of the story dates back to 5000 years. The director is putting special efforts in collecting the information about the culture followed by the people during that period. However, major part of the film will be shot in forests. We are yet to decide on heroine of this film as it is becoming difficult to find one that suits my height.”
About his childhood he said, “I had a passion for films right from my childhood but never thought that I would become a hero. I do not want to stick to a particular image, therefore I am choosing to do variety roles.”

Hi Rana,
Recently, I watched your movie “Leader”, when i was travelling from bangalore to vijayawada. Actually i will always have a second thought in watching the movies of the hero from the movie family because of the attitude these guys show offscreen. I was really impressed with the story. I even felt that you too must be having the same thoughts in your personal life. The movie talks about many things in the current day politics. Like caste, Family based politics. I started liking you though i am a hard core chiru fan. I bless you with my whole heart. You look like a very nice person. You even look like a stud with masculine features and height.
One small suggestion if you consider it: The more you make the movies which are close to common mans heart, the more you go close to them/us.
Hi RD,Congrats on successful completion of LEADER 100days. Don’t you think giving so many interviews and telling about your movies many times may raise people expections on you and you will have this addition responsibility to meet there expection which you yourself have created? please don’t ignore people here while being busy in tweeting!!!!
